Bug Control

We received Guinea Fowl eggs from Willie and they have started to hatch. A lot has been written about Guinea Fowl and insects. I have noticed when I had a flock of Guinea Fowl I was not bugged by bugs like I am now without them. They are said to eat many bugs including ticks and are also known to destroy and eat those aggressive ground nesting Yellow Jackets. We have had some very nasty encounters with Yellow Jackets and have all been stung multiple times. I never had a problem with this type of bee when I had a flock. Watching Guinea Fowl runaround the place is very entertaining but noise they make could drive some people insane.

Venture the Goose

The little one on Jordan's lap is a orphaned Canada Goose named Venture. Willie and Peg found it on there driveway and after searching for its parents with no luck they brought it here. I then found two domestic goose babes at the local feed store and brought them home so Venture would have friends growing up. The problem now is, Jordan watched the movie FLY AWAY HOME and she thinks we are going to get her a small ultra light plane so she can teach them to fly.. The answer was the same one I give her about boyfriends.. "Not While I am Alive"

Leave it to Beaver

The Beaver had disappeared for the past few years but this one has moved back into the area and has been spotted many times. At times while sitting on the back porch we can hear him chewing on a tree and slapping his tail on the water.

Grey Tree Frog

We were down by the River
when Jordan said "LOOK AT THE FROG"
I searched the ground and would have missed
this little jewel if Jordan did not point it out.
Its nice to have a set of young eyes around.
